The Fox, but no sign of Zorro …

… or Rommel, for that matter. A good 15-minute walk from the walls at Micklegate Bar, the Fox Inn, Holgate Road, serves beer from an independent brewery. Although not an ancient construction, it has its charm, as an enlargement will reveal.

According to this 2009 report, you can order a special brew for your own event.

  1. Welcome back! Good to see a post from you again. The Fox looks like a place I would wander into for a pint of whatever they're offering.

  2. i could have been interested to try out both the drinks and the food..
I have been lucky and had really nice pub-food several places in the UK.

  3. It's amusing to see an old (by American standards) pub juxtaposed with "quiz" and "poker" night. Must keep up with the times. Trivia contests here seem to have gone the way of the dodo bird. Who knows why.

  4. Historic or not, it's a lovely old building, and very warm and welcoming too. I'd love to taste their beer. I wonder if they have dark/stout…

Whatever's keeping you busy, good luck!
