Jolly juxtaposition


Not walking in the air, though, is he? I have no idea what sort of experience was on offer here, but could not resist the contrast of ephemeral and durable. That's the central tower of the Minster on the right; if you think it looks unfinished, you are right. Apparently the original plan was to have this as the belfry, but it collapsed during construction. The much more delicate twin towers, out of view to the left of this picture, were then built to house the bells.
