Keep on …

Rebuilt in stone in 13th century, Clifford's Tower is the most prominent of York's ancient fortifications. Follow the link for a potted history. The Castle Museum, just to the right, is wonderful and features, among many reconstructions, a complete Victorian Street, shops and all.

  1. It is a "clean and interesting shot"
I don`t find the English way to say it.... But it is simple, and that I like.

  2. Thank you Gunn. I know what you mean - I wondered about posting it, but liked the simplicity so much that I went ahead. "Clean" is fine for this kind of thing.

  3. With the snow and the pale blue sky, the site looks more isolated and melancholy, befitting it's sad history.

  4. Because of its elevation it is not difficult to isolate the tower in a photograph, but there are restaurants just opposite, across the busy street, with commercial and administrative premises a hundred yards further on.
