Petrified lions 2
Don't worry, the lions are harmless.
We've been here at Grays Court, off Chapter House Street, several times already, so you know where we spend our pocket money. Through the gates and to the left are the tea-gardens whilst directly to the left, avoiding the risk of being eaten alive by heraldic beasts, is the main entrance to the tea-rooms, where the round, possibly walnut, table of a few days ago is to be found.
Here we are looking north-east towards the city walls from which you can get down directly into the gardens. I recommend the scrambled egg and salmon for Saturday brunch.

Treasurer's House has the blues
This is Chapter House Street, behind the Minster, 50 yards to the left. The gates are worth a closer look, if you are a fan of wrought iron, then you must go to the Victoria and Albert museum next time you are in London; there is a long gallery (rooms 113-114, five sections of the website) full of wonderful examples of this craft.

Gray's Court, York, inside and out
Between the Minster and the north-eastern walls, just off Chapter House Street, is Gray's Court. If ever you come to York, this is where we'll take coffee or lunch. We were fortunate enough to get this comfy window spot Saturday gone. More photos of the interior will follow, but the panelled interior of the window seat can be seen below.
For the fascinating history of Gray's Court, which dates back in part to 1080, call in at the site.
