York station clock and

roof structure, taken on our way to Durham to see me mam, as I would have said years ago, before adopting ma mum after moving to North Yorkshire. The transcription of the vowel sounds is approximate.

  1. Nice capture -- terrific looking clock. Interesting tidbit about 'mam' and 'mum'. Dialects are fascinating, aren't they?

  2. Either way sounds funny to my Taglish (Tagalog-English) ears. ;)

I like the patterns that you caught here.

  4. Yes, nice geometry in this shot. I didn't realize the word "mom" was pronounced differently - that's interesting.

  5. There are some lovely clocks in York but few of them tell the right time! This one never fails, I love York station arches, great photo. As a Yorkie born and bread 70++ years ago it was always 'me Mother'
