Yorkshire poppies

We've had a wonderful year for blossom, particularly hawthorn, and now it's poppy time. Thanks to Martin for this one. I never tire of this kind of view, nor of the verse it brings to mind:

Frail as summer's flower we flourish,
blows the wind, and it is gone,
but while mortals rise and perish,
God endures unchanging on.

  1. These look like the poppies in Renoir's paintings. Papaver something-or-other. Right?

Now that the rain has brought us a bumper crop of wild flowers and grasses, we'renow worried about the dried plants being fuel for summer fire season. It's always something.
