Underneath the arches …

Inspired by Hilda of Manila, the arch of the Minster's west door beneath which you saw the schoolchildren two days ago. Even at a distance you can see that the sculptures in the arch itself have been restored. They show the story of redemption from creation onwards, starting bottom left and finishing bottom right. I'll post a close-up of a section sometime.

Bon dimanche!

  1. Hi James - at last I've worked out how to post comments on others' blogs (you need 3rd-party cookies enabled ...). So now I'm on your case!

  2. Oh wow, this is definitely worth enlarging — the details are fantastic! I'm glad you posted this. I've never seen a Gothic cathedral before; the style looks so much more ornate than any we have in Manila.

    Have a wonderful week!

  4. I love architecture like this. I can just stand and stare at all the details for hours!
By the way, if your schools don't get out for another few weeks, when you do you go back? Our summer break is generally from last part of May to beginning of August.
